Founded in 1931, Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital is a large comprehensive Grade III A-level public hospital directly under the provincial government which integrates medical treatment, first aid, teaching, scientific research, health care and rehabilitation. It is the Third Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the Affiliated Hospital of Northwest University of technology and the affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical College.

The hospital covers an area of 106,000 square meters and a construction area of 315,000 square meters. It has 13 specialized sections, 10 medical centers, 75 clinical medical technology departments, 21 national key specialties, provincial key disciplines and provincial advantageous medical specialties, 4 clinical medical research centers for breast diseases, elderly diseases, children's internal diseases and bone and joint diseases in Shaanxi Province, 4 provincial sub centers, 1 international cooperation base, 1 Key Laboratory and 1 Engineering Center.
