On May 21, a delegation of foreign guests attending the 2025 Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application visited our university. Yang Zhuohu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended themeeting, and Liu Siyang, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, presided over the meeting.
The delegation members included Makhmudov Nozimkhon Anvarovich, Chairman of the Board of the Avicenna Public Foundation of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Ruzibaev Rashid Yusupovich, President of the Urgench Branch of Tashkent Medical Academy; Khamraev Behzod Mukhamadjonugli, Executive Dean of the Institute of Traditional Medicine; Khasan Azizovich Tilyakov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine at Samarkand State Medical University; Amonov Malik, Vice President of Bukhara Medical Institute; and Syed Ziaur Rehman, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Ibn Sina Medical College in India.
Yang Zhuohu extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation andgave a brief overview of our university, academic strengths, and international cooperation efforts. He noted that China and Uzbekistan are good neighbors supporting each other, good friends pursuing common development, and good partners for mutual benefit. He also mentioned that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India. The delegation's participation in the Silk Road International Conference and their visit to our university present an excellent opportunity to build ties and foster friendship with medical institutions such as Tashkent Medical Academy. He emphasized that Xi'an Medical University will take this opportunity to explore cooperation in medical talent cultivation, scientific research, and healthcare services, and to signMemoranda of Understanding, with the goal of jointly nurturing more highly qualified international medical professionals.
The delegation members introduced their institutions respectively, including the Avicenna Public Foundation, Samarkand State Medical University, and the Institute of Traditional Medicine, highlighting their histories, current development, and areas of focus. They expressed that we hold the unique strengths in medical education and healthcare, and through cooperation, we can share resources and achieve complementary advantages, thereby enhancing the quality of medical education and healthcare services.
Makhmudov, Khamraev, Tilyakov, and Rehman signed Memoranda of Understanding withXi’an Medical University. Both sides exchanged commemorative gifts and expressed sincere wishes and a strong desire for further collaboration and exchange. After the symposium, the delegation visited the Human Body Science Museum and the 5G+ Digital Education Center.
In the afternoon, the delegation also visted the Outpatient Department, Endoscopy Diagnosis and Treatment Center, and General Practice Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University. They observed the hospital's clinical workflows and learned about its development history and service models.
This visit laid a solid foundation for deepening cooperation in medical education between our university and countries along the Belt and Road. Looking forward, the university will continue to strengthen international partnerships in medical education, actively implement the Belt and Road Initiative, and strive for greater achievements in the fields of medical education and healthcare.
