On January 19, 2024, Scott Bowman, President of Charles Darwin University in Australia, Vice President Shannon Holborn and Director of the International Office Adam Lam, visited Xi’an Medical University. Vice President Li Xueping attended the meeting.

Charles Darwin University, located in Darwin, a city in northern Australia, is the university nearest to Asia-Pacific region in Australia. They offer courses covering all stages of vocational education and training (VET), undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses and advanced research degrees. There are about 20,000 students on campus, including about 2,000 international students from 69 countries and regions around the world.

Li Xueping extended a warm welcome to the Charles Darwin University delegation and hoped the two universities can take this visit as an opportunity to communicate and establish cooperation framework, carrying out "bringing in" and "going out" projects about medical personnel training, teachers’ training, scientific research and academic exchanges, benefiting teachers and students of the two universities, cultivating more high-quality medical and healthcare personnel.

Scott Bowman introduced the Charles Darwin University and expressed his agreement with Li Xueping's cooperation proposal and he was willing for further discussion and cooperation. He said it is very important to establish cooperative relations with universities in China. Historically, Chinese had played an important role in the construction and development of Australia's Northern Territory. It is hoped that their visit can deepen the friendship between the two universities, enrich the cooperation connotation and paths, giving full play to the advantages of the two universities' medical disciplines, and contributing to the practical cooperation, such as personnel training and scientific research, in more fields and at a higher level.
