On May 20, a delegation headed by Rector Natroshvili of Tbilisi State Medical University, Georgia, visited XMU for inter-university exchange and cooperation, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Li Xueping, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the event, and Yang Ying, Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Office, chaired the forum.

Li Xueping extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the university’s educational heritage, disciplinary strengths and achievements in international exchanges. She stated that in-depth cooperation between China and Georgia across multiple fields has laid a solid foundation for medical collaboration among higher-education institutions. Our university is committed to medical talent training and innovation in clinical research, and keeps advancing international-oriented education. It is hoped that both sides will leverage inter-university links to develop diverse cooperation channels including faculty-student exchanges, academic seminars and clinical communication, so as to build a long-term, high-quality partnership.

Natroshvili spoke highly of our university’s educational accomplishments and presented an overview of Tbilisi State Medical University. As Georgia’s oldest and largest medical institution of higher learning, it boasts a complete disciplinary system, with its pediatrics and pharmacy programs enjoying remarkable influence across Asia and Europe. He expressed expectations that two-way cooperation would jointly elevate the standards of medical education and clinical practice in both regions.

During the forum, the two parties formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Heads of the Pediatrics and Orthopedics Departments of our university’s affiliated hospitals delivered special work reports. After the meeting, the visiting delegation conducted field tours at Xi’an Honghui Hospital and Northwest Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
