On May 22, a Russian education delegation visited Xi’an Medical University to participate in the events of the 2026 Silk Road International Industry-University-Research Cooperation Conference and the supporting education exchange activities. Li Xueping, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, attended the event, and Yang Ying, Director of the Exchange and Cooperation Office, presided over the meeting.

Led by Gilmutdinov, Assistant to the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of Russia, the delegation consisted of six leaders and experts from Kazan State Medical University, Samara State Medical University, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, and the Filatov Foundation for International Biomedical Technology Development.

Li Xueping extended a warm welcome to the Russian guests and briefed them on the university’s education, teaching and international exchange achievements. She stated that relying on the opportunities of the Shaanxi Silk Road Expo and the international industry-university-research cooperation conference, China-Russia medical education cooperation has embraced new prospects. The university expects to deepen exchanges and cooperation with high-level Russian medical institutions, build a bridge for talent cultivation through educational connectivity, and enhance people-to-people bonds between the two countries.

Against the backdrop of the newly launched China-Russia Education Year, Gilmutdinov spoke highly of the university’s school-running achievements and its contributions to local medical and health services, and expressed the delegation’s willingness to deepen medical education cooperation and jointly cultivate professional medical talents.

During the event, the two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation. The foreign guests also visited the university’s 5G+ Digital Education Center and the Department of Basic Medicine. After the meeting, the university and the Filatov Foundation jointly held the Russia — Science Nation · Young Medicine expert evaluation session. Six young experts from Xi’an Medical University and Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine delivered roadshow reports, and outstanding participants will be eligible to attend the Young Medical Scientists Annual Conference in Russia. Relevant leaders and experts from multiple university departments participated in the activity.
