On January 22, XMU officially signed an institutional agreement for Sino-foreign cooperative education with London Metropolitan University via an online ceremony. Gong Shouping, President of XMU, Julie Hall, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of London Metropolitan University, and Gary Davies, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of London Metropolitan University, attended the event. The ceremony was presided over by Li Xueping, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee.

President Gong Shouping expressed gratitude for the British team’s cooperation and briefly introduced the university’s development profile. He pointed out that the two universities have reached cooperation based on the shared mission of medical education, and the signing embodies consistent concepts and development visions of both sides. As a vital platform for international education, the cooperative institution will help introduce high-quality overseas educational resources, innovate school-running models and improve education quality. It will also build research and training platforms for teachers and create a localized, systematic international education environment for students. President Gong hoped that both sides would optimize talent training programs and resource sharing mechanisms based on the agreement, cultivate high-caliber medical talents with global competence, deepen Sino-British cultural exchanges through educational cooperation, and contribute to the development of global health services.

Julie Hall spoke highly of the cooperation. She stated that the agreement reflects both universities’ pursuit of high-quality international education and their commitment to global education development. The two sides will steadily advance in-depth cooperation in joint talent training, faculty and student exchanges, academic research and cross-cultural communication, build a diversified learning platform for students from both regions, help students broaden their international horizons and improve comprehensive literacy, and achieve win-win development.

During the ceremony, President Gong Shouping and Vice-Chancellor Julie Hall formally signed the cooperative education agreement on behalf of the two universities. This marks the first institutional Sino-foreign cooperative education agreement in the university’s history and represents a key and substantive breakthrough in the relevant application work. Going forward, our university will fully advance the follow-up application and implementation work, focus on cultivating international medical talents with professional expertise and comprehensive quality, and boost the high-quality development of the university’s international education. Relevant officials from the British side, as well as staff from the School of Nursing and Rehabilitation, School of Pharmacy and functional departments of our university attended the ceremony.
